Graig Farm - Who We Are > The Organic Food Awards

The Organic Food Awards

We have been successful in the Organic Food Awards every year since 1993.

The first time Graig Farm Organics won an Organic Food Award was for our bacon in 1993. All the winners stood around in a large marquee at Ryton Organic Gardens, near Coventry, and we all politely clapped each other as the awards were presented. The bacon was successful again in 1999 and in 2004, when it again won its category. We went on to be meat category winners in 1993 and 1994, as well as finalists in 1995 & 1996.

Graig Farm won the Overall Title of 'Organic Product of the Year' at the 1997 Organic Food Awards for our organic beef, at which Raymond Blanc commented ""Graig Farm beef will make an organic convert out of even the most cynical foodie".

The Popularity of Organic Food. We realised how far the Organic Food Awards had come when, in 1998, they were held in the Savoy Hotel, London, and were presented by HRH the Prince of Wales - a far cry from the large tent near Coventry five years earlier! We won in 1998 with our chicken, which was described by the judges as "Firm, but tender, with a truly glorious taste"

In 2000, we received three Highly Commended awards.

We were further delighted to have won the special "Organic Retailer of the Year" in 2001, principally for our website. We also won three more awards that year for our produce - Welsh Mountain Mutton, Biltong and smoked chicken. 2002 brought 2 further Awards, with a Highly commended in 2003.

In 2004 we won the charcuterie section with our bacon. There were no awards in 2005, but in 2006, we won three awards - Gold (fish category), Silver (beef), and Bronze (charcuterie - mutton ham).
