Paleo Diet

With so many theories these days about what we should or shouldn’t be eating, it’s hard to know who to listen to!
There are so many diets that claim to be the next big thing , from cutting some foods out, to only eating one certain food, or from counting calories to taking fasting days.
But I was reading recently about the Paleo diet aka. The caveman diet and it sparked my interest.
The Paleo diet is based on the food humans' ancient ancestors might likely have eaten, such as meat, nuts and berries. Food that has not been processed or undergone a refining process.
Paleo is based on the belief that these foods are what the human body is designed to eat and that high rates of obesity and other health problems have stemmed from the body not being suited to the volume of processed foods we eat today.
It seems opinions on Paleo are divided, some say we cannot fully replicate the diet of our distant ancestors, but where people seem to agree is that eating food which has not been processed is great for our health.
I don’t know how close we can get to the diet of our ancient ancestors, but in my experience eating organic meat, fish, fruit and vegetables can have a great positive impact on health and the principles of farming organically - not using pesticides, chemicals or routine medicines fits perfectly with the Paleo principles of not filling your body with anything it’s not designed to deal with.
I believe that we don’t need endless new fad diets, just a good balance of quality organic produce and that’s why we do what we do at Graig Farm. Quality, natural organic produce, reared and grown in the ways of our ancestors.
Check out some of our range of quality organic produce we are passionate about - Organic Beef, Organic Lamb, Organic Pork, Organic Chicken
